It was unsettling, the call she had gotten. Her phone dings in the early morning with an urgent message: several Wailord have been found on beached on the outskirt of Slateport city. Their gigantic bodies are taking up valuable beach-goer space and the civilians are both furious and concerned for the safety of the wild Pokemon. They're rapidly deteriorating and need help.[break][break]

Of course, this was a region-wide message sent to all available Ranger units, Stormy being one of them. She happened to be in the area not too far away, and with the help of her Charizard, the pair were able to respond to the call rather quickly. It seemed she was the first Ranger on the scene ready to deal with the situation, but Stormy was honestly overwhelmed with the responsibility.[break][break]

She had recently come into possession of a mega-stone that responded to Wadjet's inner strength. She hadn't formally used it yet to test the limits of this power, and she was honestly hesitant to do so. Wadjet was incredibly powerful and Stormy wasn't a top tier trainer yet. There was still a lot she had to learn - but she had a feeling this situation was going to call for her to mega-evolve Wadjet.[break][break]

But first, she should wait for another ranger to arrive. This absolutely was not a one-person job.

word had gotten to olivia of corpses washing up from the depths of the ocean, an unsettling thought and yet more proof of the need for her A.Q.U.A. initiative. research had to be done to find out why these poor gentle giants were popping up along the shores of hoenn. additionally, there was the relic she had found within the ruins of silverspire that she didn't quite yet understand. from her initial test, it appeared to be a fabled megastone - something she had only seen a handful of times from experienced trainers.

imagine her surprise then when she found the silph girl waiting at the beach. dressed in her water wear (a black skin tight diving suit, blue windbreaker, and matching boots) olivia approached the young woman with a hand held up in greeting, "greetings, stormy. i presume you are here about the beached wailord? have you heard anything that may be of use to our mission?"

A familiar voice beckons from behind and Stormy turns to face it. Wind whips at her hair and pulls it away from her mouth. The salt has made it sparkle, and the taste leaves her in an undesirable mood.[break][break]

"I think we should focus on pushing it back into the ocean first, rather than ask any questions about how it ended up here."[break][break]

She gestures to the gasping balloon of a whale. It's desperate for moisture, the sun has baked its sensitive skin, ridding it of the protective slime-coat. It's in pain.[break][break]

Wadjet stands beside her, dark wings tucked close as the sea salt bites at her scales. The powerful dragon rumbles her agreement to the situation. It seems that despite the water and the danger it poses, Wadjet seems invested in rescuing the poor specimen.[break][break]

"Do you have anything that can lend a hand?"

to the point, much like her older brother, it would seem. olivia gave a nod, releasing her sharpedo in a flash of light. "chione should be more than capable, all things considered." she remarked as she shark pokemon gazed at dying whale with hungry eyes. olivia chimed in, quietly, her voice stern, "that we are here to help this creature." her sharpedo gave what could, possibly, maybe, somehow, be considered puppy dog eyes.

"when you're ready." olivia said tapping a sapphire topped ring surrounded with pearls clung to her fingers and caught the fading beams of sunset in such a way that the light seemed to refract, splinter, and shatter...

before the glint of a shiny jewel snug around china's fin exploded with light! chione had mega evolved. "shall we?" she asked, to both stormy and chione.

Stormy watches, mildly impatiently, as the woman releases her Sharpedo. The Pokemon appears rather small and she immediately wonders how on earth a Pokemon of that size is supposed to deal with a beached Wailord. [break][break]

However, the hungry look in its eye makes Stormy agitated and uncomfortable. Was it just going to eat.. the Wailord? What the fuck?[break][break]

And then, all of a sudden, Olivia makes some movement with her hands and a jewel on the Sharpedo fractures and sparkles and suddenly there's a new Pokemon in place - a much larger and more scary Sharpedo.[break][break]

Wadjet shifts her weight behind her, and Stormy glances over her shoulder. It seems the dragon is transfixed on the pendant that hangs on her chest. A matching one is attached snug to her neck as well, and it seems to have started glowing.[break][break]

"Alright. Time to get this show on the road."[break][break]

In a similar show of light and cracking and whatnot, Wadjet

mega-evolves

next to the Sharpedo. With a bellow, the black Charizard has turned an off coloured grey-green, and blue flames spark from either side of her mouth.[break][break]

"Start rolling or pushing the Wailord back into the ocean. Do it gently though, we aren't trying to hurt the Pokemon further."

"mhm, yes. treat the giant gently, now, chione." olivia warned in tandem with stormy before giving the mega evolved shark a nod to get to work. water began to sputter behind him as chione positioned himself on one side of the beached wail and then...

he blasted himself into the huge pokemon, two powerful streams of aqua jet propelling the shark forward. the beached pokemon nudged a little, but the sharpedo would need an ally if they were to get it back in the water.

Wadjet takes to the sky, hovering above as the mega-evolved Sharpedo takes to trying to push the immovable whale. The immense beast rocks with each shove, but is otherwise stuck.[break][break]

Stormy furrows her brow in frustration at the lack of movement. Despite the shark's efforts, it appeared it wasn't enough to physically shove the Pokemon. The Wailord rumbles a complaint, or maybe a note of panic. [break][break]

"Wadjet, perform a dragon dance. You'll need it for the heavy lifting."[break][break]

She sighs heavily as the dragon finishes a tight formation.[break][break]

"Alright, now gently, but firmly, lift the Wailord as much as you can. Be careful, but I need all of your strength."[break][break]

Wadjet doesn't hesitate but there's a stiffness to her wings that makes it clear she's uneasy. Her claws grip the narrower end of the Wailord and she takes a deep breath.[break][break]

However, by the time the Sharpedo might be able to help, she's had to resort to gripping tighter with a power-imbued

dragon claw

while beating her wings hard.[break][break]

Sand sprays from all angles in her effort, effectively unburying the Wailord a bit as she heaves it up just a few inches. Hopefully with another push, they could continue this effort to inch it into the water.

"we've almost got it now, keep up the good work." olivia called to the pokemon, and stormy, as she watched beached beast slowly inch towards the water.

chione was a blur of black and blue as he continued to pump aqua jet after aqua jet out, heaving and going to push the pokemon back in the water.

The final heave exhausts Wadjet back into her original form, but not before they have successfully pushed the Wailord back into the water. For a moment, a long moment, the Pokemon lays still. It seems to gasp for air, or perhaps water, as it waits for the waves to crash over it and soak its skin.[break][break]

Stormy's teeth graze the inside of her lip as she waits with bated breath. Water sprays from the top of the Wailords head, and the Pokemon emits an impossibly loud sound. And then it's gone, disappeared under the water and making its way rapidly to sea.[break][break]

Wadjet settles down next to her trainer, head hanging slightly as smoke seeps from her nostrils. She's breathing heavily and her wings tremble with the effort she has exerted. But the job is done.[break][break]

"Thank you for the assistance, Miss Abbiati. I'll put a good word in with the rangers. I should be off now, there's likely other duties that require my help."[break][break]

With a polite dip of her head, Stormy would then recall Wadjet and replace her with another Charizard - this one much older and less shiny. He bends to allow the woman onto his back, and they promptly push off the ground and spray sand in their wake.
